Imphal, March 19 2013: Lambasting the Government for the alleged silence over the rescue of 30 children from the State by the SCPCR Rajasthan on March 12, the Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR) today urged the State authority and all concerned to work on a war footing and bring back the children to their respective homes.

Addressing reporters today at Hotel Anand Continental, convenor of MACR, Keisham Pradipkumar said it was unfortunate that no rescue response has been taken up by the Social Welfare department since the children were rescued in Rajasthan on March 12 .

Pointing out that all the children were reportedly kept in an inhuman condition at the two Homes run by Jacob John, Pradipkumar also posited that chances of sexual and physical abuses of the children are very high.

He further lamented that the State authority maintained silence while its counterpart Government in Nagaland had taken the matter seriously though only three of the children belonged to the State.

He said that the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) must have taken a pro active step to facilitate the state Government to bring back the traumatized children and provide them with basic supports, including medical, food and cloths.

He added the Commission neither make any relevant statement nor asserted strong pressure to move the State agencies.

MACR submitted an urgent appeal on March 18 to MCPCR to make sure the rescued children are brought back to the state at the earliest, but there is no visible response from the Commission till now, he lamented while once again appealing the state authority and all concerned to expedite the process for bringing the children back to the State.
